Concussion Awareness

Concussion Awareness

Concussion Awareness: Hit. Stop. Sit.

A concussion is a brain injury that can result from a blow to the head, face, or neck, or any hit that causes the brain to move around inside the skull. It can’t be seen on X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs. It may affect the way a person thinks, feels and acts.

While the effects are typically short-term, a concussion can lead to long-lasting symptoms and even long-term effects.

If you hit your head or have a hard fall — even if you are wearing a helmet — you may have a concussion. You might not realize it right away. It can be dangerous to continue to activity. Hit. Stop. Sit.

Learn More

The Government of Ontario requires all athletes under the age of 26 (and all parents/guardians of minor athletes) review the Rowan’s Law Concussion Awareness Resources once a year, and acknowledge that they have done so to each sports organization they are a part of. This includes CTSC, and we encourage all skaters — regardless of age — to know how to recognize and handle a concussion.
